Housing

Fort Dodge has a robust housing market that will meet the needs of any individual or family moving into the area. There are many choices of apartments, single-family homes, upscale options, and retirement options. The housing market has diverse choices in the form of architecture, space, and prices that are lower than the national average. The City of Fort Dodge offers a tax abatement on the first 75,000 dollars of added value for new as well as rehabilitated housing.

Housing Study

Next Move Group projects that 408 new housing units need to be built within Webster County by 2029. 292 of these units should be for sale and 116 for rent. 226 of these units should be built in the City of Fort Dodge with 149 for sale and 77 for rent. However, if Fort Dodge opts to exceed these projections and drive additional housing growth, it is reasonable to expect the City can fill all the demand for the entire County which needs 292 houses for sale and 116 housing units for rent.
